67 ex-Nazims join PTI, Khan vows to restore local government system

Another setback is in store for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as at least 67 former Nazims (Mayors) from Lahore, the stronghold of the PML-N, have joined Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday.

In a ceremony arranged in Lahore, Imran Khan vowed to introduce local body system and promised if PTI comes to power, his government would conduct local government elections within 90 days.

Khan criticised the previous PPP and PML-N governments for not holding local bodies’ elections.

“Pakistan is the only country where there are no local bodies system,” he said, adding that instead of having improvements in the system introduced by former President Pervez Musharraf, they abolished the system.

He said the PTI was committed to putting in place local bodies system, adding that carrying out development work is the responsibility of local bodies.

Imran Khan added that the former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif was in possession of more funds as compared to the prime minister but he did nothing for the sake of the province and the country.

  13. Just for your information that the PTI and Muslm league N ..they are only violence and breaks their votes. PPP is only one party this time only have great opportunity to win.
    In pujab the PPP only major win due to these both parties

    • Saiam wake up, i think you are still day dreaming as if its 2008. No more drama of shahseeds and bloood of bhutto, if you dont know majority of pakistan ridicules your new leader and his father i dont even want to call him my president. And the ads you are running is putting rage into ppl about what you really did and now you cheap PPP media wing is showing benazir's death video to gain vote on her name. SHame on PPP for that.     • PML N and PPP were in govt for 3 out of the 5 years. In balochistan they were in coilition for 5 out of 5 years. how can PTI be aligned with PPP. Imran khan clearyl said he wont take oath from zardari. yesterday maalick in his interview asked nawa sharif if he will oppose zardari once he is in power with majority or support him for another 5 year term.   16. @ Khurram Kamal – glad people with your intellect and common sense are with PML-N, in any case it is a coterie of duffers and you seem to be no different. "since zardari cannot campaign, IK is campagning for PP". I mean, I feel sorry for you rather than angry on making this conjecture.

Imran Khan is an honest man and his words are full of truth He does not dodge words and so far very disciplined in his party politics Winning all the local bodies support is a grat sign for his success As it looks he is doing fine in Pakistan in coming elections. Majority of young boys/girls are with him and they do support his policies We all wish him success in elections. Good Luck PTI

While appreciating Imran khan initiative to restore local govt system in the country at the earliest possible time, it is a fact that without local govt system in place, democracy is incomplete rather skeleton. This bold initiative of imran khan will pay him in the forthcoming elections. we wish him all success to see eagerly the NIA PAKISTAN.
