As many as 178 inmates of the Adyala jail would exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.
According to sources, the jail administration has sent voters list of the prisoners to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The ECP had sought the lists of those detainees who held national identity cards and their names were included in the voters’ list.
The ECP had directed all the jail administrations across the country to send lists of those prisoners who were entitled to cast their votes by April 25.
According to the Adyala Jail administration they had prepared the list after confirmation of names in the voters’ list, adding that 123 out of 178 inmates belonged to Rawalpindi while the other belonged from other districts of the country.
