A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry seeking directions for one year and 10 months extension in service period of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry.
The petition filed by Imtiaz Quershi read that former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf had put the CJP under house arrest after deposing him. The CJP remained out of service for a period of one year and 10 months and hence, the deposed period should be included in his service.
He pleaded the court to stop retirement of the CJP which is to be completed on December 12.
