The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday heard the Pervez Musharraf escape case where the police presented its inquiry report prepared by Additional Inspector General Operations (AIG) Sultan Taimuri. The IHC suspended DSP Secretariat for failing to arrest the former president.

The report held DSP Secretariat Idrees Rathore and SHO Secretariat Qaisar Gilani responsible for the escape of the former president.

SSP Operations Yaseen Farooq and SP City Captain Ilyas were declared innocent in the case, according to the report.

The inquiry report further stated that SSP Operation Yaseen Farooq had ordered to arrest Pervez Musharraf but DSP Secretariat did not deploy additional force to make the arrest possible. Moreover, SP City Captain Ilyas was on a two-day course.

During the hearing, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqi remarked that interior secretary was ordered to take action against the inspector general and that the DSP should not be held responsible for Musharraf’s escape.

Pervez Musharraf had managed to escape from the court in the presence of SSP Islamabad and spent a night at his Chak Shahzad farmhouse after the IHC rejected his bail and ordered his dispatch to jail on judicial remand.
