Visitors throng Islamabad picnic resorts

A good number of tourists from various parts of the country visit picnic resorts in the federal capital.

The resorts, including Rawal Dam Lake View Park, Daman-e-Koh and the National Monument, are the main attractions for tourists.

Rawal Dam Lake View Park, located on Murree Road, has been developed over the Rawal Lake, which offers leisure and recreational opportunities to visitors. The park has a panoramic view of the Rawal Dam and has a lush green playground for children. Folk musicians sitting in the park play various traditional tunes to enthrall the visitors. Cooking and barbecue facility is also available in the park. Families visit the park mostly on weekend to enjoy the holiday.

A wide road leads through lush green Margalla Hills to Daman-e-Koh, a naturally vantage location that offers panoramic views of the entire city. The National Monument is another place of attraction for visitors where hundreds of the people go and view the beautiful and green land of the federal capital each day. The monument represents the nation’s four provinces and three territories. It has been designed to reflect the culture and civilisation of the country and depict the story of the Pakistan Movement.

Akhter Munir, a visitor to Saidpur Village, another place of attraction situated to the east of Daman-e-Koh, said this small but ancient village had been centre of traditional pottery ware.

Virsa, Pir Sohawa, Shahdara, Shakarparian, the Jasmine and Rose Garden, the Capital Zoo, the Children Park, Fatima Jinnah Park, Chattar Park, Simly Dam and Margalla Hills.

Islamabad, also called “the green city of the country”, was designed in 1960’s. Its marvelous location touches Margalla Hills at the northern end of the Pothowar Plateau. Its pleasant and lush green environment and viewpoints make it one of the most beautiful capitals of the world.
