Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Taj Haider on Sunday said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should also arrange for allowing voters to exercise their right of franchise on their ‘present address’ as it appears on their national identity cards.
Haider said the ECP should issue an additional list to allow people to vote on the basis of their present addresses.
Addressing a press conference to launch a DVD of PPP’s promotional songs at Karachi Press Club, Haider said people belonging to poor segments of society will face difficulty reaching polling stations owing to ECP’s ban on provision of transport on polling day.
He said while “misuse” of articles 62 and 63 of the constitution triggered a lot of hue and cry, a particular mindset deprived Ayaz Amir of a party ticket despite getting a clean chit following the scrutiny process.
