Security and transparency in upcoming elections go hand in hand

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Khalid Masood Chaudhry has ordered all District Coordination Officers (DCOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) of the division to take speedy steps to ensure transparent and impartial elections by following instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP).

He said integrated response of all the departments was necessary and all resources would be made available to discharge duties on the polling day.

According to the spokesman of the commissioner’s office, Chaudhry has directed all hospitals at district and town levels to stay alert and ensure availability of necessary medicine to meet any emergency on the election day.

The DCOs have also been directed to prepare emergency management plan for their respective districts. He also asked the DCOs to take heads of their districts in the regard. He also ordered to conduct search operations in Afghan localities and in hotels, inns, waiting rooms for passengers. He ordered to make special security arrangements around army installations, mosques, imam barghas and busy market places. The commissioner also ordered for special security of foreign correspondents and journalists.

According to the spokesman, RPO Rawalpindi Nasim-uz-Zaman had informed that effective security measures would be in place to implement law and order in the division and additional force would be deployed in the districts where it would be needed. “Instructions have already been conveyed to the DPOs of the districts for making perfect security measures,” he added.
