Police have arrested 275 criminals and registered 145 cases against them during search operations against proclaimed offenders, drug peddlers, gamblers and others in last five days.
During a drive against proclaimed offenders, police conducted raids at hideout of criminals and arrested 62 proclaimed offenders and 60 target offenders.
Police also arrested 103 drug peddlers and recovered 27kgs of hashish , 1.8kgs of heroin, 775gm of opium and 310 bottles of liquor. Moreover, police conducted raids at gambling dens and arrested 60 gamblers and recovered stake money worth Rs 200,000 during the same period.
Lahore DIG Operations Jawad Ahmad Dogar said the search operation would be launched daily against anti-state elements to make election process peaceful. He said police would utilise all available resources to ensure law and order during elections.
