Ahmed Raza Kasuri, one of the counsels of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf, on Saturday said that by surrendering before the courts Musharraf has proved himself a democrat.
Talking to media, a dictator never came back in the country to leave himself at the mercy of the courts in the past.
“By surrendering himself before the courts, Musharraf has proved himself as a democrat,” he added.
Kasuri said that Musharraf’s test is now over, adding that the ball was now in judiciary’s court.
He said that it was ironical that the man who fought against terrorism for eight years, the Islamabad High Court has ordered to put anti-terrorism clause in the FIR against him.
Kasuri said Musharraf had acted to save Pakistan, adding that without state there would have been no constitution. The world’s attention was focused on legal proceedings against Musharraf, he said.
Earlier, the former president was sent on a two-week judicial remand while his Chak Shehzad farmhouse was declared as sub-jail.
