Ex-generals, members of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and close associates of Pervez Musharraf have called for the military to intervene in what they term as ‘intolerable judicial activism’ against the former president and general.

According to local media reports, Musharraf’s associates claim that some elements are trying to degrade retired military generals as well as top spymasters. APML has therefore announced to kick off a peaceful movement whereby retired army officials and civil society activists will raise their voice against the ‘injustice’ that took place against Musharraf.

“As the civilian government continues to humiliate Musharraf, we request the top military leadership to support him,” said APML Additional Secretary General Chaudhry Shafiq

“Top military leadership will come into action [as an ex-general is being denied justice],” Major General (Retd) Rashid Qureshi, a close friend of the former president told reporters.

The Islamabad High Court on Thursday cancelled Musharraf’s bail application in the judges’ detention case and ordered his arrest. On Friday, the former president was transferred from his Chak Shahzad farmhouse to Islamabad Police Headquarters.

“We will fight legally, morally and politically against injustice in Pakistan.” Qureshi said.  Former general’s counsel Ahmed Raza Kasuri was also quoted as saying that “even the court cannot order Musharraf’s arrest.”

  1. if today Asghar khan case was investigated as ordered by SC…..many ex generals, politicians ( especially Nawaxz Sb ) etc; face would be black…? but SC instead of ordering investigation through its own order to LAEs, passed the buck on to the PPP govt intentionally, knowing too well that it will not be investigated as desired…..

  2. Since judiciary has failed miserably in their job, they have taken on the role of administrators. CJ and all the other judges have a personal vendetta against Musharraf. Kiayani is only interested in keeping his job. It is disappointing to see him do nothing while his former boss is being humiliated. Kiayani is so imcompetent that he was never even able to develop another General to take his place at retirement so he had to get an extension for his job. That shows the state of army under his command. Judges have crossed the line but they too will retire someday and I hope and pray that they will be humiliated worse than Musharraf.

  3. Mr. Pervaiz Musharraf is the best leader needed in Pakistan, he is best decision maker
to build the country. He has only aim to see Pakistan as a good, peaceful & best relations with all. Eventhough i am not interested in politics, i am 63 years old, born in Bahawal Pur, now residing in Karachi, i read most of the news papers, watch most tv's talk shows, but looking Mr. Musharraf as good army & political leader's qualities.

  4. Musharraf should face proper judicial process. If found guilty, must be punished. At the same time, judges must behave in a graceful manner and follow dictates of law. Their aim must not be to please Chaudhry or Nawaz.

  5. Musharraf is a selfless man not greedy & money hording like Zardari & Sharif brothers.
He did nothing wrong during his term, his only interest was to build a stronger country, Judges & lawers are behaving in appalling manner, they should know better not to make this a revenge scenario. The action taken in Lal Masjid case was proper, it was more of an army barracks then a mosque with rocket launchers & advanced weapons. Iftikhar Chaudry never told the public all about the circumstances regarding his son, the reason a reference was filed against him. As cheif justice he should have cleared the air.

  6. Only fair person capable of taking the country forward is Musharraf. All the chaila's of contenders running for the elections please think before you post an illogical reply. Why do Zaradari, Sharif's, Altaf have funds in foreign accounts stolen from Pakistan? If Altaf is so concerned about Pakistan why doesn't he return, instead of ordering the killings of innocent people from his luxury pad in UK. 80% of Pakistani public have deep down support for Musharraf, unfortunately the poor public as always are thrown a few dollars like beggars to build the theives vote banks. A polite request to Pakistan Today please do not remove my comment as freedom of speach should prevail, unless you have no control over what you are allowed to publish.

  7. Judiciary has only one aim to show its power. They are not doing their job but getting involved in Administrative issues. Interested in revenge and trying to prove gods in the country.
People stood with CJP for restoration of independent judiciary (in fact restoration of judges’ lost jobs) with hope of speedy and cheap justice thereafter. But all went wrong. CJP and Co busy in all other stuff except justice to the poor.
In last 5 years not even a single criminal has been hanged though 40,000 people have been killed in terrorism. Notorious target killers are freed by judges within weeks, but a poor individual has to appear in courts for decades to prove him innocent.
CJP should use his power in right direction, where people can get some relief. Lower courts and ATCs should be strengthened. Implementation of law should be the main focus.
