PM lauds political parties for galvanising masses in electoral process

 

Prime Minister Justice (r) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on Friday praised political parties for their active participation in the ongoing electoral process and stressed upon Ministry of Interior and home departments to plug security holes that might affect the process.

He was talking to Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Ghaus Bukhsh Barozai and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Justice (r) Tariq Pervaiz who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House.

They discussed the overall political situation in the country with special focus on the prevailing law and order.

The prime minister said it was heartening to note that all political parties, representing all shades of political spectrum, had decided to be part of the mainstream political process.

“This shows their confidence in the democratic dispensation. However, this confidence has been seriously affected due to recent killings of prominent party candidates belonging to major political parties,” he added.

The prime minister said as they were approaching the election day, law and order was becoming a challenging task for the caretaker government.

“It is the duty and obligation of the government to provide a conducive atmosphere for the conduct of fair and transparent elections,” he added.

Khoso further said there was a need to restore and strengthen confidence of people by ensuring a peaceful environment during the elections and by maintaining law and order.

He stressed upon the Ministry of Interior and home departments in the provinces and FATA to lay additional emphasis in addressing security loop holes.

Khoso said they should all do their utmost efforts to plug all holes that could affect or disrupt the electoral process.

He also asked the chief ministers to hold candid discussion on law and order and find comprehensive and objective solutions.

The prime minister said every citizen must be treated equally with dignity of human life fully protected, while liberty of life and honour must be guaranteed as envisaged in the constitution.
