Keeping in view the law and order situation and to facilitate citizens, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police on Friday prepared traffic a detailed traffic plan which included a ban upon parking within the limits of the polling stations on the election day scheduled on May 11.
Parking within 400 meters of the polling stations would be prohibited and alternate routes would be kept clear in case of emergency situations, also a strict ban on vehicles with tinted glass and vehicles without number plates will be ensured. In addition, maintenance of ambulances, fire brigade trucks, and other government vehicles have also been ordered to avoid any untoward incident during the election.
Sector incharge and DSPs would supervise the situation at all the polling stations, while the chief traffic officer would administer overall supervision.
When contacted, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah said that the smooth flow of traffic on city roads before and after the elections was the obligation of the traffic police, adding that alternate routes would be arranged for the purpose to avoid gridlocks during election day.
He said additional contingent of traffic wardens would be deployed during election day who would ensure smooth traffic flow.
