Provision of basic rights to the people could be improved in the country by aligning the government policies with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), said caretaker Federal Minister for Science and Technology Dr Sania Nishter on Thursday.
Nishtar said this while addressing a seminar titled “Dialogue on Development Solutions for 2020 Pakistan”, organised by non-profit organisation Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS). She said the ministry was committed to sowing such seeds in the short tenure of two months that could bear good results in the future.
HANDS Chairman Dr Ghaffar Billoo said in his address that there was need to develop appropriate strategies in Pakistan that could help achieve the MDGs. He said according to a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) report, Pakistan had shown some progress but it still ranked at 146 out of 186 countries where further improvement was needed.
