Kalki Koechlin, who played a social activist in Shanghai, had a much hyped and talked about kissing scene with her co-star Prosenjit Chatterjee, but she says she missed the chance to kiss the “serial kisser Emraan Hashmi”. “The script was such in Shanghai that there was no scope of a kiss. And in Ek Thi Daayan, again I missed the chance to kiss Emraan. I think he doesn’t like my face and it’s getting complex day by day,” laughed Kalki who was in Pune on Tuesday with her Ek Thi Daayan co-stars Emraan and Huma Qureshi. Kalki who has worked in husband Anurag Kashyap’s films like Dev D, That Girl in Yellow Boots and Shaitan, has no plans to work together in a film as of now. According to her, Anurag is different as a director and a husband. “As a director, he is confident and very bossy. Whereas, as a husband he is scared to upset me and is completely in love with me. Basically I wear the pants in the relationship,” she said. When asked whether she plans to start a family, she was quick to add, “Anurag and I are really busy with our respective work schedules. We don’t get to see each other for one or two months, I don’t want to have children as of now. I might adopt one in the future.” Known for her unconventional roles, like of a modern day Chandramukhi in Dev D or a British woman who works in a massage parlour in That Girl in Yellow Boots, is she getting typecast? “I want to challenge myself as an actor and explore various genres — from romantic to comedy to action. Maybe my looks are such that I don’t fit into every other character. It’s really annoying when people ask me, ‘Do you love India and spicy food?’. It can be frustrating at times,” she ends.
