Special arrangement are being made to provide security cleared lamination paper for at least 0.3 million passports to ease up the pressure of backlog, Immigration and Passport Director General Zulfikar Cheema said on Thursday.

While giving a detailed briefing to Wafaqi Mohtasib’s probe committee on passport imbroglio, Cheema said this would help us issue up to 10,000 passports every day.

“The directorate has also prioritised issuance of passports, keeping in view the urgency to travel for medical treatment, studies and jobs,” he added.

The DG said various initiatives had been taken to improve the situation so that the suffering of people could be mitigated.

  1. Why the passport office charged Rs. 5000/= and they have given the date of delivery of it after 60 days while they should provide it with in a week

  2. I could just not understand how are they prioritizing jobs and others when no such thing is logged while passport application.

  3. While prioritising, please also give priority to the applicants who have also applied for Haj 2013 and they are waiting for Passports (urgent).

  4. I'm Still not understanding how such irresponsible officials are on board. Saying "Initative is being taken". Why not before when Contract was awarded to US without legal authority.
