Security at Imran Khan’s residence beefed up

On the directives of caretaker Interior Minister Habib Khan, the security around the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has been beefed up.

Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Police Bin Yamin along with DSP Khursheed Khan and SHO Fayyaz Ranjha held a meeting with Khan on Thursday and exchanged views on security matters.

Following the meeting, the number of police personnel at the residence of the PTI leader was increased from six to 16.

PTI Information Secretary Sheerin Mazari had demanded strict security for Khan.

More than 100 enraged PTI workers on Wednesday night protested against the unjust distribution of party tickets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the residence of Khan and the PTI Secretariat in Islamabad.

Window panes of the secretariat were smashed by the enraged workers.

The protesters also broke the main gate of the residence in Bani Gala and entered the house.

The protesters also tried to enter the family quarters but the personal guards of Khan called in police and pushed the enraged workers out of the house.

Khan’s spokesman Naeemul Haq held the federal interior minister responsible for the situation. He said security was not provided to Khan by the federal government despite threats to him.

Talking to reports, Mazari condemned the incident and held the caretaker government and the interior minister responsible for the incident. She also demanded the minister’s resignation.
