The Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) on Thursday claimed that the force had seized 61 kilogrammes of heroin in two separate operations from the furniture which was being shipped to Belgium and Malaysia.
An ANF spokesman said the force had been tipped off that some international drug traffickers would smuggle heroin to Belgium and Malaysia from the Karachi Sea Port. He said based on the information the force stopped two furniture containers at the International Container Terminal, Karachi Sea Port, and searched them. Thirty-eight kilograms of heroin was concealed in the container for Belgium while 23 kilograms of heroin was hidden in the container destined for Malaysia.
The ANF spokesman said that timely operation had foiled the smugglers plan. He said two first information reports (FIRs) had been registered under Control of Narcotics Substances Act-1997 while investigation was underway, adding that efforts were being made to arrest the people involved in this crime.
