The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered law enforcement agencies to gear up efforts to ensure the return of former OGRA chairman Tauqir Sadiq to Pakistan.
A two-member SC bench led by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.
NAB Prosecutor General KK Agha told the SC that the UAE court had conducted hearing of Tauqir Sadiq case on April 15 and the court had given time until May 20 to the accused Tauqir Sadiq for further preparation of the case.
“The UAE court has not released Sadiq. The NAB chairman has written a letter to caretaker government seeking its cooperation to ensure return of Tauqir Sadiq to the country. Reply to this letter has not been received, therefore, more time can be allowed,” Agha contended.
Justice Khawaja remarked, “Whatever is with you be filed in the court. And who went there [UAE]?”
He further remarked, “We don’t want to make any interference in the case.”
“We want the government and NAB to accelerate the pace of their efforts in this regard. The lawyers who have appeared there can tell the details better.”
The hearing of the case was adjourned until May 23.
This's is just cat and mouse game….
