PPP Secretary General Latif Khosa on Tuesday claimed that the party would sweep the upcoming elections.
He said the government had successfully completed its five-year term and hoped that the PPP would win the 2013 polls with a thumping majority.
The people would never forget Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) who gave them voice, empowered them by providing the right to vote on the basis of adult franchise enabling them to elect their representatives to govern the country, he said.
He said that ZAB had sacrificed his life but did not give up the cause of the people and democracy.
“The history marked Bhutto as a hero of the people,” he added.
He said that it was due to the vision of ZAB that Pakistan became a nuclear power and its defence became impregnable and now no enemy could even think of aggressive designs against Pakistan.
The former Punjab governor said that the 1973 constitution was Bhutto’s landmark achievement for the country that laid a firm foundation of a democratic Pakistan as per the vision of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Paying tributes to the leadership of the PPP, he said the 18th Amendment and restoration of the unanimously adopted constitution were also the PPP government’s landmark achievements which had won the hearts of the people.
He said that the PPP and its present leadership was committed to implementing the vision of ZAB and would continue to strive for the cause of democracy and poor segments of society.
He said the poor should vote for the PPP in the election as a tribute to Bhutto.
