In order to ensure qualified teaching faculty at government schools, Punjab caretaker government has decided to introduce new recruitment policy for the appointment of teachers in the Education Department.
Sources said the Punjab government has formed a new recruitment policy under which those applying for teaching will have to appear in a test in their respective subjects.
The test will carry 100 marks, of which 60 percent questions would be from major subject of the candidate while 40 percent questions would include general knowledge, and current affairs. Moreover, candidates getting 50 percent marks will be declared eligible to be recruited as teacher.
The test for the purpose would be held simultaneously across Punjab and responsibility of conducting the test would be given to any of the three departments including Education Department, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education or any other autonomous government body.
Sources said the summary pertaining to new recruitment policy has been forwarded to the Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi for approval.
Educational circles have expressed concerns over entry test, saying that new recruitment policy was unnecessary.
