A representative of Pakistan Steel has referred to the news items, published in various newspapers about the land owned by Pakistan Steel, has stated that the land in question was declared by as the property of Pakistan Steel by the court in its order dated 10th November, 2012.
This had also been further confirmed by the Revenue Department and the deputy commissioner orally and in writing. The land in question had been witnessing a rise in illegal construction carried out by some unauthorised parties. The latter have termed the incomplete building as being either a mosque or a madrassah. On the other hand, officials of Pakistan Steel stressed that a few pillars and rooms could not be designated as such.
In this connection the religious scholars of Pakistan Steel, Dar-ul-Aloom Karachi and Dar-ul-Aloom Binoria Town have given a “Fatwa” in favour of Pakistan Steel. It is pertinent to mention here that the area where this illegal construction had been carried out was at a considerable distance from some “Goths” and there was no justification as such to have a mosque or madrassah built in such an isolated place.
In the area coming under Pakistan Steel’s authority, there were about 53 functioning mosques in the area, and have been built by various sects and denominations of Muslims.
According to officials of Pakistan Steel, the move was obviously made to grab precious real estate belonging to Pakistan Steel. Such illegal actions have been challenged in the courts of law and the provincial and local powers have been briefed fully about the prevailing situation.
