Violence claims two more lives, several suspected criminals arrested

At least two more people lost their lives in the fresh spate of violence that erupted in the metropolis, while police and rangers’ launched targeted operation and arrested several suspected criminals from different areas of the city on Monday.
Per details, a tortured dead body of man was recovered from Gulistan-e-Johar, but the identity of the victim could not be ascertained until the filing of this report.
Later on, Police shifted the dead body to a nearby hospital for autopsy and stored it in a morgue for further identification.
Meanwhile, the blood-soaked dead body of a man was found lying in the backseat of an auto rickshaw parked on a thoroughfare near a local hotel.
Rescue sources said the unmistakable bullet-wounds on the body and the blood all over the passenger compartment of the rickshaw showed that the man had died due to excessive bleeding after getting shot several times. They added that his wounds were fresh, thus proving that the assault was very recent.
Police launched a search operation shortly afterwards, but the auto rickshaw driver was nowhere to be found, while the vehicle carrying the gunned-down body was found parked near a three-star hotel namely Regent Plaza on Shara-e-Faisal, which was the main artery of the metropolis.
Police said the identity of the dead man as well as the shooter(s) could still not be ascertained.
Police suspected that the killer(s), after shooting the man to death, either hid his body in the rickshaw or maybe wanted to dump it somewhere else, but due to some reason they preferred to make themselves at large without a trace.
The body was later shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) to undergo post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, in Gulistan-e-Johar area of the metropolis, police launched a targeted operation at Rabia City Apartments after receiving vital information and arrested seven suspected criminals. At least 300 police personals including female staff and special production groups took part in the operation.
It merits mention here that rangers’ had also launched separate operations in Kali Phari and Kasbah Colony areas and arrested scores of suspected criminals from the mentioned localities.
Furthermore, five suspects were rounded up in a targeted operation conducted by paramilitary rangers’ force in Mahmoodabad area of the metropolis. Weapons were also recovered during the operation.
According to details, rangers’ received a tip-off that persons involved in street crimes around Shara-e-Faisal and Baloch Colony were hiding in Mahmoodabad. On this, the rangers’ personnel surrounded Omar Colony, sealed some specific streets and conducted house-to-house search operation.
Motorcycle squads were also used during the operation to enter and maneuver the narrow streets in case of hot pursuit. After a two-hour long operation, five suspects were taken into custody by the paramilitary force.
In addition to this, heavy contingents of police entered and put aside barriers in different areas of District East to clear the whole area.
