Power shortfall in the country reached 3,500MW on Sunday as people had switched on their fans following a rise in the temperature across the country.
According to a spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Power, the demand of electricity on Sunday rose to 12,900MW as against generation of 9,400MW.
The spokesman claimed that 10 to 12 hours of load shedding was being carried out in rural and urban areas. However, reports say rural areas were being subjected to load shedding of up to 18 to 20 hours.
