The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have awarded party tickets to their candidates for two national assembly and four provincial assembly seats in Sahiwal.
According to PML-N sources, the party issued tickets to Imran Shah for NA-160, Muhammad Ashraf for NA-161, Pir Khizer Hayat Shah Khagga for PP-220, Malik Nadeem Kamran for PP-221, Muhammad Arshad Malik for PP-222, and Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi for PP-223.
PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has directed the candidates to start electioneering in their constituencies.
The PTI issued party tickets to Ali Shakoor Chaudhry for NA-160, Malik Muhammad Yar Dhakoo for NA-161, Manzoor Ahmad Chaudhry for PP-220, Shakeel Khan Niazi for PP-221, Umer Ishaq for PP-222 and Irshad Kathia for PP-223.
However, PTI’s review committee will review the decision on awarding ticket to Shakeel Khan Niazi for PP-221.
Meanwhile, a candidate of the PPP from NA-160, Muhammad Zaki Chaudhry, has demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan allow people possessing expired CNICs to cast their votes.
He said hundreds of people in NA-160 were registered voters but their CNICs had expired, adding that it would be impossible for them to get their identity cards renewed within such a short span of time.
