After a very tough competition in round one of trials held for emerging young fast bowlers under ‘Ufone-PCB King of Speed’, Nasir Malik and Akhtar Ayub from Islamabad and Abdul Ameer and Muhammad Imran Khan from Karachi qualified for the next round here on Monday.
On third day of trials held at Bhutto Cricket Ground, Islamabad and at National Stadium, Karachi, a large number of young fast bowlers participated. The round-1 trials are part of the initiative taken by Ufone and PCB to hunt and train the best bowling talent in Pakistan.
In Islamabad, trials were conducted by Ufone and PCB official including Abdul Qadir, Sabih Azhar along with two Analysts Khurram Malik and Ahsan Ehsan. Whereas, in Karachi, trials were held at National Stadium and conducted by Ufone-PCB officials including Saleem Jaffer, Tauseef Ahmad along with two analysts M.Zubair and Shakir Khilji.
Nasir Malik and Akhtar Ayub were the lucky ones is Islamabad who got selected after a very tough competition and qualified for the round-2 with the top speed of 138 Km/h and 137 Km/h.
On the Other hand Abdul Ameer and Muhammad Imran Khan got selected with top speed of132 Km/h from Karachi.
Trials for round-1 have already been completed in Multan, Faisalabad and Garhi Khuda Baksh and a total of 6 bowlers with 2 from each city have been selected for the 2nd round of trials so far.
After the selection in the first round these young bowlers will move to the 2nd round of trials which are scheduled to be held on Sunday 21, 2013 in National Stadium Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium Lahore for final selection.
