BHC criticises spending of public money on banners welcoming PM

Balochistan High Court on Monday criticised unnecessary expenditures from government exchequer during interim prime minister’s visit to Quetta.

A division bench comprising Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Justice Qazi Faez Esa and Justice Tahira Safdar heard the suo moto case.

During the hearing a report on the part of Balochistan chief secretary was produced in the court in which the court was apprised that Rs 0.5 to Rs 0.6 million were spent on banners and posters during caretaker prime minister’s visit to Quetta.

The court asked why such a huge amount from the government exchequer was spent on unnecessary campaign during the visit.

The court also expressed resentment over printing of pictures of party leaders posters. The court rejected the report of Balochistan chief secretary and adjourned the case until April 20th.

In another case, Balochistan High Court approved a petition from Nawab Miraali Bugti, grandson of late nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti against Aman Lashkar in Dera Bugti.

Nawab Miraali in his application pleaded that Ghulam Qadir Masouri Bugti, in the name of Aman Lashkar, was running a private militia which was against Article 256 of the constitution.

The court approved the application for hearing on Tuesday.
