Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Abdur Razzaq Cheema directed superintendents of police (SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and all station house officers (SHOs) of Rawalpindi district to perform their duties honestly for holding free and fair general elections 2013.

Chairing a meeting at Police Line no. 1, the CPO directed all police officers that they should remain impartial and the code of conduct of Election Commission be implemented strictly.

He further said that strict legal action should be taken against those violating the code of conduct.

He ordered that all available resources should be utilised to ensure transparent, free and fair general elections.

The CPO also issued special instructions that if any violation of the code of conduct, especially arms display, is noticed then immediate action in accordance with the law should be taken against the violators.

A grand operation against proclaimed offenders should also be launched immediately and special teams in this regard should be formed.

The CPO said all the police officers should perform their official duties in accordance with the law and the citizens should be given due respect.

He said strict action would be taken against police personnel found absent from their duty.
