Altogether 45 clubs of the West Zone have assured their full support to President, Lahore City Cricket Association, Khawaja Nadim Ahmed in the elections of the body in coming months.
Out of 52 clubs, 45 announced their unconditional support to the sitting LCCA Chief at a reception held here on Sunday at Mehran cricket ground under the leadership of Rai Zulfiqar.
In his address of welcome Zulfiqar acknowledged the efforts of Kh Nadim for the revival of cricket and said it was imperative to re-elect him for providing him the opportunity to continue his polices for the overall development of the game.
‘ LCCA organised a series of tournaments besides organising its own league and special emphasis was laid to promote cricket at early level during the past three years and the credit of lifting Lahore’s cricket out of gloom goes to its President ’,he added.
He said the presence of renowned cricket organiser and former manager of Pak cricket team, Azhar Zaidi and other cricket organisers including Sardar Noushad, Nawab Mansoor Hayat, Taquir Shah, Manzoor Mani, Sardar Shoaib, Mansoor Hameed, Asif Qadoos and others widely endorses the views that unity was prevailing in the ranks of LCCA.
‘ LCCA has emerged as a role model body in recent years as clubs were actively participating in tournaments and Lahore’s teams were producing productive results in the domestic tournaments ,he added.
Speaking on the occasion ,Kh Nadim said that he has decided to re-contest the elections as a lot of work is still to be done to stream line cricket at grass root level. ‘If re-elected I will introduce more reforms and decisions will be taken with mutual understanding of all the affiliated zones to take cricket to new heights in Lahore ‘,he said.
LCCA President announced that LCCA will be supporting Rai Zulfiqar during the election of President of West Zone.
He also thanked Azhar Zaidi and other noted cricket organisers for supporting him and joining hands for achieving a collective cause of development of cricket in Lahore.
