Ah, the vagaries of the Malik system. The Interior Ministry is but a Malik fiefdom. First, Rehman Malik, now Malik Habib and later, perhaps, Veena.
Why Malik Habib was chosen to be the interior minister, is a question perhaps only our man Khoso can answer. But in the more immediate term, it is Habib himself who has to answer some questions. Specifically, why did he have to give pro-PML-N statements after taking charge?
Neutrality, and the appearance of neutrality, is just about the most principal attribute required of a caretaker minister. Habib has botched that up wonderfully. One wonders how he will fare in the more difficult aspects of his job, like fighting terror during the elections. Law and order is a provincial subject, yes, but terror wings, given their cross-provincial operating procedure, have to be handled by the folks at the Interior Ministry.

Cash strapped models in Lahore have found a new way to get some, um, cash.
I mean, it isn’t that new a method. In fact, part of it skirts dangerously close to that most ancient of vocations.
Turns out that they pester/cajole their rich gentlemen callers to buy them jewellery. When they get their bling, they then sell it back to the shops. It is said they have a system going with the shops concerned.
