Number one seed Petra Kvitova cruised into the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Katowice Open with a straight-sets win over Croatian Petra Martic.
The Czech world number eight strolled to a 6-3 6-2 win over Martic in just under 70 minutes at the indoor clay court tournament in Poland.
Number two seed Roberta Vinci also had a smooth passage to the semi-finals, the Italian dropping just one game as she smashed Czech player Karolina Pliskova 6-1 6-0.
The world number 13 defeated a player ranked 68 players below her in one hour and seven minutes.
Germany’s Annika Beck defeated a player ranked 100 places below her, Italy’s Maria Elena Camerin, 7-6 (7/1) 6-0.
Romanian Alexandra Cadantu battled back from a set down to defeat Israel’s Shahar Peer. In a match which lasted over two hours, Cadantu won 5-7 6-3 6-3 to reach the semi-finals.
Earlier, Kvitova overcame a shaky start to despatch Mandy Minella and claim a place in the quarter-finals of the Katowice Open in Poland.
The Czech top seed had been trailing 4-1 in the opening set but turned things around to win 7-5 6-2 against her Luxembourg opponent.
Second seed Roberta Vinci also survived a first-set scare to progress at the expense of Kiki Bertens.
The unseeded Dutchwoman took the opener but Vinci recovered to post a 2-6 6-3 6-4 success.
In today’s other second-round matches, Alexandra Cadantu battled past Irina-Camelia Begu 4-6 6-3 6-4, while Shahar Peer was a 6-1 6-3 winner over Jill Craybas.
