PML-N central leader Senator Pervez Rashid said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had shown double standards with regard to the PML-N leadership.
“Directives issued by ECP for withdrawal of additional security of Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif is unjust and one sided. It is a matter of surprise that ample security is being provided by the government to politicians of lower rank all over the country but ECP is pursuing double standard with reference to PML-N leadership”, he said in a statement issued on Saturday.
He went on to say that the level of security cover needed for these two leaders should be adequate as Nawaz Sharif is a former prime minister and head of the largest political party of the country.
“If anything happens to these leaders, then the ECP, President Asif Ali Zardari and the caretaker prime minister will be directly responsible for it,” he said.
He said holding of fair and transparent election should be the priority of ECP rather than reducing the security of Sharif brothers.
“ECP has failed to ensure implementation of its transfer orders in federal departments, government of Sindh, PEMRA, NADRA, Radio Pakistan, NAB and PTV,” he alleged.
