Former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has called on the caretaker government to transfer administrative officials in the Centre to ensure free and fair election.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said by not transferring officials, the caretaker government was creating doubts over the credibility of the election.

Shahbaz said the PPP’s favorite officers were posted in key departments such as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

He said if the ECP could write to the prime minister to express displeasure over a statement of a federal minister, why couldn’t it follow the practice in removing the government functionaries loyal to the PPP.
