Former law minister Rana Sanaullah has not vacated his official house in Government Officers’ Residence – 1 (GOR-1) despite the end of his term and the grace period, Pakistan Today learnt on Thursday.
Sanaullah’s continued possession of his house has raised many questions because all other ministers have vacated their official residences.
According to the rules, a minister could delay vacating his official residence for not more than 15 days after the deadline. However, sources revealed that Sanaullah still occupied the official residence, 3-Patiala Block in GOR-I, while his grace period ended on April 6.
It has become a matter of grave concern for the caretaker setup with its impartiality under question as Sanaullah’s possession of the house gives credence to the impression that the PML-N is still pulling the strings in Punjab.
A senior official, seeking anonymity said that getting the house vacated from Sanaullah was going to be a challenge for the caretakers and the higher bureaucracy because many of them were still ‘connected’ with the former rulers.
Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Rao Iftikhar said it was news for him that Sanaullah was still occupying the official residence. After confirming the news from his subordinates, he said they will make sure that Sanaullah vacates the house.
Despite repeated attempts, Sanaullah was not available for comments.
