Sohail Ahmad replaced Javaid Aslam on Wednesday, taking charge as Planning and Development (P&D) Department chairman, as part of the ongoing bureaucratic reshuffle, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Ahmad is considered to be ‘the right man for the right job’ because he has served in various important departments of the province including finance, health and local government. Ahmad is a grade 22 officer, batch mate of former ACS Sami Saeed and CS Javaid Mehmood.
The task of the chairman is to plan more than Rs 200 billion of the development outlay in the province and execute the policies of the chief executive. The outgoing chairman has managed the development plans of the previous regime for around three years. The replacement of such an officer is considered a welcome step by many other officers.
The outgoing chairman said that posting and transfer was a part of their job and being a true professional, he did not think much about the past development projects.
