Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan on Thursday said no body knew the Taliban better than Pakistan and that if his party succeeded in upcoming election, it would make peace with the militants.

In an interview with Voice of Germany (Deutsche Welle), Hasan said it was too early to predict how his party would fare in elections.

“It depends on our election campaigning and electoral alliances with other parties.”

About the goals for foreign policy, particularly Afghanistan and the Taliban, Hasan said with the support of parliament, “we will formulate a new and independent foreign policy”.

“Our foreign policy will not be dictated by the US. We will raise our voices for the Muslims in Myanmar, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Palestine and Chechnya and try to resolve disputes in these countries with the help of the international community.”

He said as far as the Taliban were concerned, “we will negotiate with them without US involvement”.

He said nobody knew the Taliban better than Pakistan, and only Pakistan could force them to give up their armed struggle.

“Taliban rejected all those who tried to negotiate with them in Qatar and France at the behest of the US,” the JI chief said.

  1. "We will raise our voices for the Muslims in Myanmar, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Palestine and Chechnya and try to resolve disputes in these countries with the help of the international community.” And who will raise their voices for Muslims in Pakistan, Behrain, Egypt and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

  2. Who would raise voice for innocent pakistanis? who do not get clean water, education, foods? who would raise voice for corrupt Jumati Islami? who built roads with materials which gone broken the next week?
