The Punjab caretaker setup on Tuesday decided against the proposition of a Basant Festival earlier proposed by Caret taker Chief Minister Najam Sethi.
Sethi directed City District Government Lahore (CDGL) to devise a plan to successfully hold Basant this season. After conducting surveys, CDGL personnel submitted a plan to hold Basant on the 14th and 15th of April at Safari park Raiwand and Jallo park.
After careful consideration in a panel meeting, it was decided that there were several bottlenecks in the plan as well as severe objections by the police.
The police maintained that they could not ensure the safety of the people during the event. After the meeting, the panel recommended to the CM to not go ahead with the project and the project was subsequently shelved by the CM
