As many as 200 graduates of Hamdard University Islamabad received degrees at its 10th convocation held on Tuesday.
The students from different departments of the university including Management Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Engineering and Computer Sciences received degrees and medals for their outstanding academic performance.
Japenese Ambassador to Pakistan Hiroshi Oe was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the students, the ambassador congratulated the students for achieving excellence in their academics by getting good grades. He said Japan and Pakistan were enjoying good diplomatic relations since the year 1962.
The ambassador underlined the need to enhance academic exchanges between the two countries. He said twelve Pakistani students from different universities visited Japan this year while ten high school students and 16 university students visited earthquake affected areas in Japan.
Hamdard University Director General Professor Dr Nazir Ahmad (SI) presented the annual report of the university and highlighted the recent developments in the university.
The students and faculty members of Hamdard University produced 31 research papers in the fields of Pharmaceutical, Engineering, Management and Behavioural Sciences and four of them have won gold medals.
He said the university has recently launched MS programme in Management Sciences and it is ranked by Higher Education commission as one of the top universities of the country.
Hamdard University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hakeem Abdul Hannan, Chancellor Mohtarma Sadia Rashid, faculty members, parents and students attended the ceremony.
