Get off our land!

 

At least five officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s Enforcement Directorate have been seriously injured during an operation carried out by authority against the illegal occupants in Katchi Abadi in Sector H-9. During the operation against the encroachments in the vicinity, the contingents of Enforcement Directorate razed ten illegally constructed structures.
However, the illegal occupants of the areas pelted stones at the officials of CDA resulting in serious injuries to five officials while many officials received minor injuries during the operation. Constable Siddique received serious head injuries and was shifted to the hospital after necessary first aid, along with other injured officials.
The concerned formation of the authority has lodged an FIR against the people who caused hindrance in the operation.
Meanwhile, CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz has instructed to carry out the operation against the illegal possession of CDA land in Sector H-9 and assured his full cooperation and security of enforcement staff. He directed CDA Member Estate Shaista Sohail to carry out operation against the illegal and unauthorized occupants of CDA land without any discrimination and seek the cooperation of district administration and concerned police station to avoid any untoward incident.
The chairman said that encroachments portrayed ugly picture of the city and operations for removal of these encroachment would continue without any concession and discrimination. He warned the occupants of CDA land to raze their structures otherwise authority would take severe action against these encroachments.
Apprising CDA chairman about the operation, Shaista Sohail said that people who had been shifted by CDA in collaboration with ICT administration from WASA land, green belt of Sector G-7 and Chak Shahzad areas were temporarily settled in Sector H-9. However, CDA took notice of several complaints lodged against the encroachers. It has been noticed that people from different parts the country have gradually settled illegally and not only constructed houses but also were involved in unauthorized sales and purchase of houses and land in the area, she said.
