Down with Sheesha corners – 2 more cafes sealed

Islamabad (Industrial Area) Assistant Commissioner Imran Sultan Ali on Tuesday conducted surprise checking of hotels and restaurants in the area and sealed two Sheesha smoking centers in F-10 and confiscated 10 sheeshas.

Five offenders were held and FIR against them has been registered. The names of sealed sheesha corners are Take Away and Candy Coach.

Assistant Commissioner explained that an anti-smoking drive has been launched in the city to ensure the implementation of Anti-Smoking Ordinance 2002. He said that smoking has been prohibited at public places under the law and ICT Administration in cooperation with the Tobacco Control Cell has launched a public awareness drive regarding side effects of smoking and health hazards posed by sheesha smoking.

All the concerned assistant commissioners are conducting surprise checking in their respective areas to eradicate sheesha smoking. He said that ICT Administration would not allow smoking at any public place in the city and the violators would be dealt with an iron hand.

ARRESTS:

Rawalpindi police have arrested 15 lawbreakers including three suspected dacoits and five gamblers and seized 337 grams charras, 10 bottles of liquor, two pistols and firework items from the possession of the arrested accused.

According to a police spokesman, Pirwadhai police arrested Kabir and recovered 220 grams charras, while Saif was held for carrying 117 grams charras. Sadiqabad police apprehended Shabir and recovered six bottles of liquor. Similary, Nisar was sent behind bars as four liquor bottles were recovered from him. Bunni police netted Khalid and recovered one pistol. Race Course Police booked Abdul Sattar as one pistol was recovered from his custody.

Meanwhile, Airport police after receiving information regarding suspected dacoits conducted raid at Lilayal Turn and arrested three suspected dacoits namely Islam Gul, Tahir Iqbal and Owais and recovered three pistols from them.

Sadiqabad police, also acting on a tip-off, raided and apprehended five gamblers and recovered Rs 51,520 stake money, two mobile phones and other items.
