Caretaker govt not empowered to reshuffle officials, LHC moved

Caretaker government’s step of reshuffling the government officials was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday.

Rana Arshad submitted a petition in the LHC claiming that large scale reshuffling was creating uncertainty among civil servants. He claimed that the caretaker government did not have power to reshuffle government officials. He appealed the court to nullify reshuffling.

RESHUFFLING EXPECTED IN E&T PUNJAB:

Reshuffle in Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department is expected after review of tax recoveries across Punjab.

Excise directors’ conference would be held today, under the chair of Punjab E&T Director General Humayun Sheikh to review recoveries made by department’s officers during March.

Sheikh has said officers would surely be reshuffled but only after reviewing the performance of the officers in terms of tax recoveries in their respective areas.
