Sana Safinaz, one of the country’s leading brands depicting panache, would be showcasing its collection titled “Resort Chic” on the second day of the 5th Fashion Pakistan Week to be held from April 9 to 10. The Sana Safinaz 2013 collection is one that goes from Palm Beach to gorgeous port city of St Tropez which infuses a nautical and ‘chic’ style, said a statement issued on Saturday. Sana Safinaz started 20 years ago with bridal collection and has now gone international. Recognised as queens of haute couture in Pakistan and beyond, Sana Safinaz’s brand has long been synonymous with graceful, elegant, chic and eye appeasing styles. They have formed a forte for themselves in the fashion industry for their clothes ranging from intricately embellished bridals to refreshingly cool lawn prints for summer. Famous Pakistani duo designers Sana Hashwani and Safinaz Munir of SanaSafinaz were crowned as the “Best International Designer of the year” at the 5th Annual Masala Awards in Dubai. They were nominated in the ‘Best Designer’ of the year category for the second time. The collection gives an ode to Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis, the wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy who affectionately became known for making a style statement in her modish circles. Jacqueline is undeniably one of the greatest style icons of the last century. It also honours Babe Paley who was known as “The Best Dressed Woman of All Time”. This collection reminisces a time when resorts were glamorous; and also pays a tribute to generations of classic women, who were the fashion icons of the 1940s and 1950s. The design inspiration is derived from social style icons of the past like Nancy “Slim” Keith bringing back the glamour and the confidence portrayed by her. Lady Keith and Babe Paley were the inspiration for characters in Capotes novels.
