Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers were accepted on Sunday, from Lahore’s constituency NA-120.
Earlier, objections had been raised over the PML-N’s chief nomination from the said constituency. These included allegations that Sharif had illegally seized property that did not belong to him and that he did not fulfill the constitutional criterion for contesting under articles 62 and 63. The returning officer had reserved judgment over Sharif’s nomination earlier. However, on Sunday after investigating the objections, Sharif was cleared to contest for the national assembly seat from Lahore. PML-N and Nawaz Sharif supporters and workers celebrated their party chief’s acceptance of papers and chanted slogans in his favour outside the ECP office.
