On the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi, a well coordinated and active public complaints management system is being formulated to address the grievances of the people at government hospitals throughout the province. This was stated by Punjab Health Secretary Arif Nadeem on Friday while presiding over a meeting to establish the complaints system.
The patients visiting teaching hospitals and their attendants would be able to send their complaints regarding provision of medical facilities, availability of medicines and general behavior of doctors and paramedical staff through SMS and internet to the higher authorities.
The officers of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) briefed the meeting about already existing system of redressal of public complaints at district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. The health secretary directed further augmenting the existing system and lessening its complications. He also directed PITB to chalk out a model on modern lines about Public Complaints Management System at the hospitals.
