The Supreme Court on Friday formed a three-member bench to hear treason charges against former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf.

The three-member bench will be headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. The court will hear the case on Monday.

The petition is filed by RawalpindiHighCourtBar President Taufiq Asif, in which it is prayed that Musharraf should be tried under Article 6 for abrogating the constitution of Pakistan.

Earlier, a local court also rejected Musharraf’s nomination papers filed from NA-139 Kasur.

  1. This will be interesting to watch how SC handles this case because it was Iftikhar Chaudry himself who legitimized Musharraf's rule after the coup. By that standard, shouldn't the CJP be tried for the same offense?
