Musharraf’s nomination papers rejected

The nomination papers of former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf were rejected by the returning officer in Kasur’s NA-139 on Friday.

According to details, a local lawyer, Javed Kasuri, had raised objections over the candidacy of Musharraf, saying that he did not qualify to contest elections under Article 62, 63 of the constitution.

Returning Officer Mohammad Saleem accepted the objections and rejected the former dictator’s nomination papers.

Musharraf filed paper to contest the general elections from four seats, Karachi, Islamabad, Chitral and Kasur.

Meanwhile, a Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Zafarullah, on behalf of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s (PML-N)  Ahsan Iqbal filed an application before the ECP seeking disqualification of Musharraf alleging that he could not contest polls due to his involvement in four cases, the Akbar Bugti killing case, the Lal Masjid case, the Benazir Bhutto killing case, and the missing persons case.

    • It is not good for Pakistan. Supreme Court sitting on Sheriff brother cases from last five years. But they worry about honest person Musharraf ex- President of Pakistan.

  10. These are the allegations….nor been convicted… The chairing person of all the parties have been charged with allegations…then all should be thrown out without any dellay

If the logic is that Musharraf cannot contest elections because there are allegations against him though not yet convicted, so the Sharifs can also stand disqualified because they have allegations against them pending before courts. The cases of Sharifs could not be concluded because their judges have issued stay orders. Has Ahsan Iqbal taken this angle into consideration?

    • THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN PAK,,,,, NO RULES NO IDEAS NO CARE OF GOOD OR RIGHTEOUNESS OR FAIR OR WHAT IS RIGHT,,,,JUST DO WHAT THEY FEEL LIKE…THIS IS WHY PAK IS WHERE IT IS,,,NO ONE GIVES A DAMN OR IS TOLD TO SHUT UP..EVERYONE WANTS TO PLAY THE LAWMAKER BUT THEY KEEP ON AND ON,,,,,,WELL NO ONE IS STOPPING THEM EITHER.

  12. I accept that all chairing persons should be thrown out. First one should be Mr 10% now Mr 100% who is a big criminal(dacoit). He shouldn't be the president. Musharraf is the head of TTP who send suside bomber officers to kills Bugti. Now Mr 100% is a president he should investigate the crime of Benazir murder through investigators and should brought the fair report to the public and hang that criminal. This game is only one sided. They are afraid of his taking part in polls.

As a so called democratic process,a man is innocent until proven guilty.But in Pakistani style democracy,the officials running the country can get away with everything while holding previous government responsible long before they are even tried. do agree with some of the fellow Pakistani's,if this is democracy,the we were better off under a dictator.

  20. Good decision, he needs to be tried for treason and for letting crooks off the hook (NRO). Questions should also be asked of his wealth abroad.

    When Supreme Court will stop helping Sherrif brothers the robbers of Pakistan.
