Sindh caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Justice (r) Zahid Alvi on Thursday performed the inauguration of the 6th annual exhibition of the All Pakistan Memon Federation.
He said that the city of Karachi was the economic and commercial hub of the country.
The maintenance of law and order would help to spur commercial activities in the metropolis, he said.
The caretaker CM was optimistic that the usual hustle and bustle in terms of business would be restored soon in the city and the law and order situation would be kept under control.
He also lauded the contributions of the Memon and the Gujrati communities, especially in the realms of health and education.
CM Alvi further pointed out that a healthy number of trusts, schools and hospitals were established by these two communities alone.
On the occasion, he also spoke of the malady of Thalassemia and added that an ordinance would be introduced soon, thus making the Thalassemia test mandatory before marriage.

Secretary Abdul Ghani Banghra also spoke on the occasion and apprised the CM of the aims and objectives of the event.
Later, CM Alvi distributed shields among the sponsors and organisers of the exhibition.
