The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday rejected the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ayaz Amir.
Amir had filed his papers from Chakwal.
An objection on Amir for writing articles “against the ideology of Pakistan” was filed against his nomination papers by complainant Babar Salim.
Amir told a private TV channel that he had not received the verdict so far, but had been informed that the papers were reportedly rejected on objections raised by the president of a local press club over his two articles on the ideology of Pakistan.
The decision against Amir’s nomination papers was taken by an ECP returning officer on Wednesday.
Amir is a renowned journalist and columnist.
