Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will spearhead the election campaign of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), PPP Secretary-General Latif Khosa said on Wednesday.
The PPP chairman reached Karachi late on Monday night from Dubai to participate in PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s death anniversary.
“The PPP did not cancel the ceremony on ZA Bhutto’s death anniversary scheduled at Larkana rather it has been shifted to Naudero keeping in view the process of scrutiny of candidates for the general elections,” said Khosa.
He said the party leadership had directed PPP office-bearers to hold ceremonies in connection with ZAB’s death anniversary at provincial and district levels across the country.
Khosa said candidates were engaged in the process of scrutiny and after that canvassing would be launched. To a question, he said Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed should know that every party decides candidature and constituencies for its nominees after consultation and added that aspirants applied for tickets showing their choice of constituency.
“The candidates cannot be forced to contest elections from the constituency against their will as they have been working for their vote bank since long in the constituency of their choice,” Khosa added.
