At least seven people were killed in the early hours of Tuesday when unknown assailants fired rockets at grid station in Peshawar’s Budhberh area.
Police said assailants fired seven rockets at a 500 kilowatt grid station in Sheikh Muhammadi, causing it to catch fire.
Five bodies of WAPDA employees had been recovered from the spot while three bodies of community police personnel had also been recovered.
Four WAPDA officials are still missing and search is on for them
Moreover, the police revealed that at least seven bodies had been found in the fields after last night’s attack. The police is searching for five other missing personnel.
Almost immediately after the attack, electricity went off and the entire area plunged into darkness.
The police cordoned off the area and investigations are currently underway.
WAPDA officials announced province-wide protests against the attack as well as the closure of WAPDA’s provincial offices and a halt in operations.
