SC hears projects approved by two former PMs

The Supreme Court is to hear the case regarding several mega projects approve during the tenure of two former prime ministers, Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry took notice on newspapers reports, saying that the record of mega projects approved during the tenure of the two former PMs is being tampered due to an apprehension that it might be summoned by the court.
He also said that for this reason efforts are being made by the bureaucracy to conceal the dubious summaries. Furthermore, despite ban, Gilani granted 450 illegal licences to CNG stations in collusion with Tauqir Sadiq, brother-in-law of Jahangir Badr, and corruption of billion of rupees was involved in the matter.
Raja had also approved illegal licences to 200 CNG stations despite ban, but OGRA instead of implementing the policy formed a technical committee for its scrutiny and sought clarification from the Petroleum Ministry. Thus OGRA has not issued licences to these 200 CNG stations so far.
After going through the contents of the note based on the report, the CJP on Monday ordered fixation of this matter in court on Wednesday (today).
